Once the Bishop of Truro’s summer retreat, Bishop’s House is an elegant listed early 19th century building occupying an unparalleled position in Fowey overlooking the Estuary.
Beautifully restored by its present owners, the comfortable and stylish bed and breakfast accommodation provides luxury suites that benefit from magnificent Estuary views to Polruan and out to sea.
Guests are invited to enjoy use of the drawing room, music room and library, whilst breakfast is served ‘family style’ in the orangery or on one of the terraces overlooking the Estuary.
The four suites are all beautifully furnished and fully equipped with flat screen free-view televisions that include built in DVD; supersized beds and fresh cotton bed linen. The bathrooms offer the luxury of both roll top baths and separate showers. Non allergenic pillows and duvets can be supplied on request. Tea and coffee making facilities are close-by.

Your hosts Elizabeth and Nigel Wagstaff will be happy to help you plan your visit to this wonderful part of South East Cornwall and will do everything they can to make your stay in their historic home memorable.

Their aim is to make your stay as relaxed and enjoyable as possible. Depending on your time of arrival, you will be greeted with tea and home made biscuits and breakfast (using quality and where possible local ingredients) is at a prearranged time entirely to suit you in the orangery, on the balconies or in the dining room.
Bishop’s House garden overlooks the estuary at sea level and guests are welcome to enjoy this area at any time. A small salinated pool will be installed next year which will also have spectacular views and sunbathing opportunities.
There is a well stocked library and a small selection of DVDs which guests are welcome to borrow.
But above all there is one of the most magnificent views in Cornwall and you can just sit in the most elegant surrounds and soak it in.
Bishop’s House is closed from September 30th and re-opens for Easter every year. We regret that this accommodation is not suitable for children or pets, and smoking is not permitted in Bishop’s House or in any of the Fowey Residences. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
